Blending kits

A blending kit gives you a set of materials and lets you combine them, usually under names the provider chose. We map each of those names onto the notes we hold, so a kit stops being a list of words and becomes something you can compare.

What the mapping is for

Once a material resolves to notes, anything blended from it becomes a set of numbers, and every tool we have built on notes works on it - the scent wheel, the wear timeline, and the search for which perfumes a blend resembles. That is what the Studio runs on.

The mapping is our interpretation of how a material is described, not a reading of what is in it. We have not analysed these materials and we hold nobody's recipe. Where a name suggests more than one character we map it to several notes with relative weights, and each of those carries a confidence we assigned.
