Listeners wanting a curated back-catalogue of niche and artisan perfume house founder interviews, not new episodes

The Sniff

The Sniff Perfume Podcast is hosted by UK fragrance blogger Nicola Thomis, and across two seasons it dug into niche and artisan perfumery through founder-led interviews rather than launch-of-the-week reviews - guests included Linda Pilkington of Ormonde Jayne, the team behind Commodity Fragrances, and the oud specialists at Strangelove.

We checked this one hard, as instructed, because it looked likely to be dormant - and it is. The most recent episode is Season 2 Episode 22, an interview with Linda Pilkington about Ormonde Jayne's history and a teased brand announcement, published 21 October 2023. The two episodes before that (Commodity Fragrances, 1 September 2023, and an oud-focused conversation with Strangelove, 25 August 2023) show the same late-2023 cutoff. As of this review in July 2026, that is nearly three years without a new episode - by any reasonable definition, the show is dormant, not merely quiet between seasons.

One further correction: the domain often quoted for this show, thesniff.co.uk, does not resolve at all. The real home for the archive is the-sniff.com, with episodes still live on Podbean, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Despite the dormancy, the back-catalogue itself retains real value - founder-level interviews on smaller niche and artisan houses are a genre few active UK podcasts cover as directly, so this is listed here as an archive worth mining rather than a going concern.

Highlights

  • Founder-led interviews on niche and artisan houses (Ormonde Jayne, Commodity Fragrances, Strangelove) rarely covered this directly elsewhere
  • UK-hosted with a genuine trade/blogging background behind it
  • Full back-catalogue still freely accessible on Podbean, Apple Podcasts and Spotify
