Alain Alchenberger is a prominent French perfumer with a distinguished career that spans several decades and continents. Currently the Director of the Givaudan Perfumery School, Alain originally trained as a chemical engineer at the Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland before entering the world of perfumery in 1979. His extensive experience covers a wide array of fragrance categories, from fine fragrance to functional products, and he has developed perfumes for major companies such as Unilever, Colgate, and Oreo. Alchenberger has also created for many celebrated brands including Davidoff, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and Adidas, working in over ten countries across three continents. Deeply committed to education, he views his leadership at Givaudan’s school as a way to give back to the industry, fostering new talent and sharing his passion. Alain emphasizes the evolution of perfumery through the decades, highlighting shifts in olfactory trends and the growing importance of chemistry and synthetic ingredients.
