Inexcusable Evil
Eau de Parfum
Toskovat
Known for highly conceptual, narrative scents he calls "extraits de mémoire", often centered on themes like love, death, nostalgia and consumerism. Frequently uses provocative, unconventional accords such as gunpowder, blood, plastic and cannabis, treating all notes as synthetic "fantasy constructions". His best‑known work, Inexcusable Evil for Toskovat’, explores the horrors of war with notes of gunpowder, blood and concrete and is cited as part of a broader "anti‑fragrance" movement prioritizing artistic expression over conventional wearability.
David‑Lev Jipa‑Slivinschi is a Bucharest‑based, self‑taught perfume‑maker and founder of the independent brand Toskovat’ (launched in 2022), which he owns and runs himself. Born in Bucharest to Romanian, Russian and Ukrainian heritage, he originally worked as a filmmaker and screenwriter before turning to scent as his preferred narrative medium. He deliberately avoids the formal title "perfumer", describing himself instead as a perfume‑maker "of the people". His work with Toskovat’ has been profiled internationally, including coverage in outlets such as Vogue UK and The Wall Street Journal, and he has also created fragrances on commission for other projects such as Cæleste’s Principalities.
