Dominique Ropion is a renowned French master perfumer, born in Paris in 1955, who has become a towering figure in contemporary perfumery. After training at the prestigious Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school in Grasse-which later became part of the Givaudan group-he began his career at the legendary Roure Bertrand laboratories. There, he refined his craft under the mentorship of Jean-Louis Sieuzac. Ropion's creative journey has seen him work with a multitude of iconic fragrance houses, including Christian Dior, Mugler, Lancôme, Givenchy, Issey Miyake, Yves Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, and Frédéric Malle. Since 2000, he has been a key creative force at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), where his relentless quest for olfactory perfection has produced some of the industry's most celebrated and best-selling fragrances. Ropion is distinguished by his daring approach and meticulous attention to balance, often blending powerful ingredients into harmonious and innovative compositions. His work has earned him numerous awards, such as the Prix François Coty and the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and he holds the honorary title of Master Perfumer at IFF.
