About

Geza Schoen is a German perfumer celebrated for his avant-garde, boundary-pushing vision in contemporary perfumery. Born in Kassel, Germany, Schoen grew up in an artistic family and initially pursued chemistry before entering the world of fragrance. He received his formal training at Haarmann & Reimer (now Symrise), where he was grounded in both the technical and creative aspects of scent creation. Schoen is best known for founding Escentric Molecules in 2006, a brand that became an international sensation by highlighting the beauty and complexity of single aroma molecules such as Iso E Super. His work with Escentric Molecules has been recognized for challenging the conventions of traditional perfumery, earning him a cult following among fragrance enthusiasts. Beyond his own brand, Schoen has collaborated with a diverse range of houses and artists, including Diesel, Ormonde Jayne, FCUK, Boudicca, and Anat Fritz. He has also been honored with several awards, such as the Outstanding Artist Award for Interdisciplinarity in 2016 and the Sadakichi Award for Experimental Work with Scent in 2017, which he shared with Wolfgang Georgsdorf for "Osmodrama / Smeller 2.0." Schoen's influence lies not only in his innovative compositions but also in his outspoken views on the state of modern perfumery, where he often champions creative authenticity over fleeting trends.
