About

Jacques Huclier is a senior French perfumer renowned for his bold and innovative approach to fragrance creation. Born in France, Huclier's fascination with scent began early, eventually leading him to study at ISIPCA, the prestigious fragrance institute in Versailles. His career started at Haarmann & Reimer (now part of Symrise), where he was mentored by Olivier Cresp and Pierre Bourdon, two major figures in modern perfumery. He then moved to Quest, which later became part of Givaudan, and returned to Givaudan in 2003, where he has served as a senior perfumer. Huclier is perhaps best known for creating Mugler A*Men in 1996, a groundbreaking gourmand fragrance that introduced a new olfactory family to men's perfumery with its notes of caramel, coffee, and patchouli. He has also developed a wide range of successful flankers for A*Men and composed numerous other internationally acclaimed fragrances for houses such as Gucci, Nina Ricci, Davidoff, Azzaro, and Valentino. His creative process is characterized by a competitive spirit and a focus on both innovativeness and wearability, and he has mentored many aspiring perfumers throughout his career.
