Tropical and botanical compositions, floral reconstitutions, and deep woody or balsamic orientals. Pérez has specifically discussed his complex tuberose-led Flor Azteca, with earthy and smoky oriental facets, and his interest in recreating flower scents.
About
Juan M. Pérez is a self-taught artisan perfumer from Lares, Puerto Rico, born in 1976. His professional studies are in plant sciences and horticulture, and he has operated the fragrant bath-and-body business Exotic Island Aromatics since 2005. He launched The Exotic Island Perfumer line in 2012 and has created fragrances for EnVoyage Perfumes, Zoologist and Renier Perfumes. His documented credits include Nectars des Iles, created for EnVoyage as a 2011 guest collaboration, and Zoologist Dragonfly; Flor Azteca and Oudh Nawab were released through the 2012 Primordial Scents project.
