Known for exploring the “fine line between light and dark” in his compositions, Plos favors strong contrasts and draws heavily on natural ingredients shaped by high-tech extraction methods.[2] He combines these technical tools with consumer data analysis to tune accords to cultural expectations and future trends, often seeking luminous-dark dualities in his fragrances.[2]
Julien Plos is a French perfumer whose early exposure to fragrance came through his mother, herself a perfumer, and through visits to Grasse where he developed a strong interest in natural ingredients and the traditions of perfumery. He formally studied perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles before working abroad in England and the United States. In 2018 he returned to Paris and joined Firmenich (now dsm-firmenich) as a fine fragrance perfumer, where he continues to create new scents. Based in Paris, he is known for using advanced extraction technologies to reveal unexpected facets of natural materials and for integrating consumer data to anticipate olfactory preferences.[2]
