About

Laurent Bruyère was a highly respected French perfumer whose unconventional journey into fragrance creation left a lasting legacy. Remarkably self-taught, Bruyère developed his craft through an innate passion and hands-on experience, rather than formal training. He began his career at Charabot, gaining essential expertise, before joining IFF, where he was mentored by the renowned Dominique Ropion, further refining his skills and deepening his understanding of perfumery. Later, he became Senior Perfumer at Mane, working with a wide array of prestigious brands such as Mugler, Cacharel, Lacoste, Yves Rocher, and Yves Saint Laurent. Bruyère’s creativity and innovative spirit resulted in the creation of several industry-defining fragrances, many of which have become contemporary classics. Despite his untimely passing at the age of 43 in 2008, his influence endures through the enduring popularity of his iconic scents and the admiration of both peers and perfume enthusiasts. His self-taught background allowed him to approach perfumery from a fresh and innovative perspective, breaking conventions and exploring new creative territories.
