Ireland Born 0 French Avenue

Sources highlight McCurtin’s blend of scientific training in biochemistry and molecular biology with a strongly emotive, poetic approach to scent. She often explores synaesthetic and literary inspirations, as seen in The Sixth’s mindfulness focus and Róisín Dubh’s Irish-cultural narrative. Her compositions tend to use nuanced herbal, floral and atmospheric accords to tell place- and story-driven olfactory narratives, such as the festive ambiance of 14 JUILLET and the city-portrait Eau d’Amsterdam.

About

Meabh McCurtin is an Irish fine-fragrance perfumer working for International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in Paris. Originally from Ennis, Co Clare, she studied biochemistry at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and continued her scientific education in molecular biology at École normale supérieure in Lyon before moving into perfumery. Her career has taken her through Lyon, Geneva, Amsterdam and New York, culminating in her current role at IFF in Paris. McCurtin is the perfumer behind Bastille Parfums’ 14 JUILLET, created to evoke the spirit of the French national holiday, and she composed The Sixth for Vyrao, a herbal fragrance designed to enhance mindfulness. She also created Eau d’Amsterdam and Annindriya’s Tipsy Tuberose in collaboration with Perfume Lounge, and the award-winning fragrance Róisín Dubh inspired by Irish heritage. Her work additionally includes Western Shisha for French Avenue, credited to her on Fragrantica and Parfumerie de Dubaï.
