Noir Epices
Eau de Parfum
Frédéric Malle
Frequently works for niche houses, favoring carefully selected natural materials and complex yet elegant constructions. His best‑known works, such as Noir Epices and Bois de Paradis, often feature pronounced spicy and woody accords, with warm notes like cinnamon, clove and pepper contrasted against luminous florals or woods, reflecting his interest in harmonies, contrasts and multisensory correspondences between scent, sound and color.
Michel Roudnitska (born 1948) is a French second‑generation perfumer, son of Edmond and Thérèse Roudnitska. After completing business studies and a five‑year apprenticeship with his father starting at age 23, he became both a perfumer and visual artist. In 1997 he took over the family company Art & Parfum, based in the hills near Grasse, managing and creating fragrances there. He composed Noir Epices for Frédéric Malle Editions de Parfums and several perfumes for Parfums DelRae, including Eau Illuminée (2002), Amoureuse (2002), Bois de Paradis (2002) and Début (2004). He has also created for niche houses such as Hors Là Monde and Magnolia Grandiflora, and develops multisensory “olfactory shows” that combine scent with sound and image.
