Giacobetti is known for her light, airy, and transparent compositions that ingeniously balance natural and synthetic ingredients, often evoking subtle, poetic atmospheres with unexpected accords and delicate nuances.
Olivia Giacobetti is a highly influential French perfumer born in 1966, celebrated for her innovative and refined approach to fragrance design. The daughter of artist Francis Giacobetti, she was captivated by the world of perfumery from a young age, beginning her journey at Annick Goutal at just 16. Giacobetti honed her craft during seven formative years as an assistant perfumer at Robertet before establishing her own company, Iskia, at age 24. Building an impressive portfolio, she created iconic fragrances for houses including L'Artisan Parfumeur, Diptyque, Hermès, Guerlain, and Lubin, and is renowned for pioneering the use of fig notes in perfumery with creations like Premier Figuier and Philosykos. Giacobetti further advanced the role and recognition of the 'nose' behind the scent, both through her independent brand Iunx-supported by Shiseido-and her work with niche and luxury brands. Her signature fragrances such as En Passant, Dzing!, and Hiris are lauded for their originality and evocative storytelling, often blending both natural and synthetic materials in harmonious, minimalist compositions. Giacobetti's influence extends beyond her creations, as she has played a key role in shifting the industry toward celebrating the artistry of perfumers and independent lines.
