Paolo Cerizza

Paolo Cerizza

Italy Born 1960

Cerizza’s style is shaped by his early immersion in natural materials such as jasmine, rose, iris, ylang-ylang, lavender and sandalwood from his family’s distillation activities in Imperia. Trained in the Jean Carles/René Ricord school at Roure, he follows a method that emphasizes conceiving clear, structured formulas before compounding, often translating sensory impressions and travels into concept-driven niche compositions like Vanilla Circus and Rock ’n’ Salt.

About

Paolo Cerizza was born in 1960 in Sanremo, Italy, and grew up surrounded by essential oils through his family’s business. His father, Aurelio Cerizza, founded E.M.A. (Essences of Aromatic Materials) in Milan in 1946 and later opened a distillation branch in Imperia in 1956, working with jasmine, rose, iris, ylang-ylang, lavender and sandalwood. In 1966 Aurelio created Cerizza Spa in Milan, where Paolo joined his brothers in 1983 to begin his career as a perfumer and fragrance creator. He trained under René Ricord at the Roure School of Perfumery, a mentor who had been assistant to Jean Carles, founder of the Roure school in 1946. Cerizza has since signed national and international fragrance projects, including recent niche launches such as Vanilla Circus and Rock ’n’ Salt.
