Gaurin is renowned for his use of dense, resinous essences and deep woods, often sculpting 'frontal materials' like cistus labdanum and patchouli into rich, mysterious compositions influenced by music and film.
Pascal Gaurin is a celebrated French perfumer known for his innovative and evocative creations across some of the world's most prestigious fragrance houses. Currently serving as VP Senior Perfumer at IFF, Gaurin's journey into perfumery began in France, where a childhood fascination with scents and materials was nurtured by his artistic family heritage. Inspired by an encounter with renowned nose Jacques Polge and a pivotal article in Vogue, Gaurin dedicated himself to the craft, studying at the esteemed ISIPCA. He joined IFF one year after graduating, launching a global career that included formative years creating fragrances in Hong Kong and exposure to Asian markets. Since relocating to New York in 1997, Gaurin has built an impressive portfolio for brands such as Tom Ford, By Kilian, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, and many others. His creative output encompasses mainstream icons and niche masterpieces, earning him a reputation for depth, craftsmanship, and an ability to blend the mysterious with the sensual.
