Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain founded the House of Guerlain in Paris in 1828. LVMH says he first opened a boutique at 42, rue de Rivoli and created Eau de Cologne Impériale in 1853 as a wedding present for Empress Eugénie. Guerlain’s history page also identifies him as a perfumer, chemist, inventor and researcher.
