Lagerfeld Classic
Eau de Parfum
Karl Lagerfeld
Known for accessible yet characterful compositions, Winnegrad’s work spans soft, powdery musks (Love’s Baby Soft), rich fruity florals with leather and rum facets (Balenciaga Rumba), and classic masculine woody-amber structures (Lagerfeld Classic, Armani). In teaching, he emphasizes intuitive smelling, color associations, and his FragranceGPS map of “cities” and “streets” to navigate olfactory families rather than relying on abstract theory.
Ron Winnegrad is an American perfumer and educator, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He became widely known in the 1970s through creations such as Love’s Baby Soft for Dana and Lagerfeld Classic for Karl Lagerfeld. His credited work also includes Balenciaga Rumba, the original Giorgio Armani fragrance for Giorgio Armani, and Simply for Clinique. Winnegrad served as director of the New York perfumery school at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), where he trained generations of perfumers and fragrance evaluators. He also developed his own “FragranceGPS” / olfactory map method to teach students how to navigate and identify smells, encapsulated in his teaching motto “Don’t think, just smell.”
