Shelley Waddington

United States Born 0 Zoologist Perfumes

Waddington frequently works at high extrait concentrations, combining a strong natural-material focus with complex, story-driven compositions. Interviews highlight her use of natural isolates and a broad palette of florals, musks and gourmand notes, often inspired by art, literature and specific places, as seen in narrative collections like the Odyssey Series and Carmel-by-the-Sea.

About

Shelley Waddington is an American indie perfumer and founder/owner of En Voyage (often styled EnVoyage) Perfumes. In interviews on En Voyage’s site and The Perfume Magazine she explains that she began making perfume around 1998-1999 and later received formal training at Galimard in Grasse, France, which she credits with reinforcing her identity as a perfumer and expanding her palette of floral and musk materials. Based in Portland, Oregon, she composes and hand blends her collections in her own studio. Waddington is the author of the 2012 book “Perfuming with Natural Isolates,” and her work has received multiple blogger and indie awards, including CaFleureBon’s 2011 “Rising Star - Indie” and “Best Collaboration” for Nectar des Îles and Vent Verdant, created with Puerto Rican perfumer Juan M. Perez. Her fragrances are sold directly through En Voyage Perfumes and select partners, and she has also created external collaborations such as Pythia for American Perfumer and Civet for Zoologist Perfumes.
