Thierry Wasser is a celebrated French-Swiss perfumer who has shaped modern perfumery through both innovation and respect for tradition. Born in Switzerland in 1961 into a family connected to the fragrance industry, Wasser began his career after earning a Federal Diploma of Botany, which laid the foundation for his deep appreciation of natural ingredients. He trained at the esteemed Givaudan Perfumery School, becoming a perfumer at the age of 24. His early career included notable tenures at Charabot, Firmenich, and dsm-firmenich, where he developed his craft and collaborated extensively, including with Annick Ménardo. In 2008, Wasser became the in-house perfumer at Guerlain, making history as the first non-family member to hold the position in the house’s 190-year legacy. Renowned for his mastery in blending natural and synthetic materials, he has created a vast array of iconic fragrances for Guerlain, such as La Petite Robe Noire, Idylle, L'Homme Idéal, and Mon Guerlain, as well as for brands like Dior, Lancôme, Jil Sander, Diesel, and more. Wasser is known for his meticulous approach, personally sourcing raw ingredients worldwide and ensuring every creation meets his exacting standards. His ability to craft both timeless and contemporary scents has earned him immense respect and several industry awards, cementing his status as one of the leading perfumers of his generation.
