Memoize London
Badard often describes his method as composing like a painter, building fragrances in coloured layers based on how each ingredient resonates and diffuses. He has a particular affinity for opulent white florals such as tuberose, and rich resinous-leathery notes like labdanum, leather and honey, facets that appear in his niche and limited-edition work at Quintessence’s in-house House of Quintessence atelier.
Tristan Badard is a French perfumer and creation manager based in Brighton, UK. After a chemistry degree with a fragrances and flavours option (2010-2011), he completed a Master’s ICAP in Cosmetics, Aromas and Perfumes Engineering in Montpellier (2011-2013), including training periods in Grasse and Beijing. Early in his career he worked in flavours and fragrance analysis at Omega Ingredients in the UK, and as a trainee perfumer at Welfine Beijing and at Galimard Perfume House in Grasse. Badard joined Quintessence Fragrances in 2014 as analyst perfumer, combining GC-MS analysis with creation and reformulation work, and spent a year on assignment at a creative centre in Mumbai. He later became Creation Manager & Perfumer, and creates scents for fine fragrance and air care, including Memoize London’s Year of the Horse Eau de Parfum.
