ZARKOPERFUME
Pavlov specializes in molecular perfumery, building compositions around single or few synthetic molecules rather than traditional top-heart-base pyramids (Fragrantica; Escentual). His work often aims to adapt to the wearer’s skin and environment, with molecules that react to air pressure and weather, altering color and structure (Das Parfum & Beauty). He fuses "classic French perfumery" with Nordic molecular science, focusing on minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired scents, exemplified by MOLéCULE 234.38 and Pink Molécule (Escentual; Das Parfum & Beauty; brand materials).
Zarko Ahlmann Pavlov is a Danish perfumer and founder of the fragrance house ZARKOPERFUME, established in 2014 (Fragrantica, brand and retailer interviews). After around a decade and a half in high-end fashion retail, he left the fashion business to study perfumery for about five years before launching his own brand (Das Parfum & Beauty; John Bell & Croyden; Cosmeterie; Escentual). Multiple interviews and brand materials describe him as currently the only practising perfumer in Denmark, focusing on molecular fragrances inspired by Nordic nature and Scandinavian lifestyle (Fragrantica; Escentual; Das Parfum & Beauty). His first signature molecular fragrance for the brand was MOLéCULE 234.38, named after the size and weight of the molecule he used and developed over several years (John Bell & Croyden; Das Parfum & Beauty). Among his later creations are Pink Molécule and DNA-based concepts where the perfume fully develops only on human skin, summarized in his frequently cited motto: "Perfume is nothing without human skin" (Das Parfum & Beauty; Escentual).
