r/fragrance is the largest fragrance-focused community on Reddit and, by extension, one of the largest fragrance discussion spaces online in any format. We re-pulled the live member count directly from Reddit on 6 July 2026: 2,420,098 subscribers. That scale makes it the default first stop for a huge range of fragrance questions - recommendations, dupe-hunting, batch-code and authenticity checks, industry news reactions, and general chat about what people are wearing.

The sub describes itself as 'an inclusive, adult community for discussing finished retail perfumes and other scented personal and home-care products', and it runs a specific moderation structure to manage its own size: posts asking for recommendations, shopping advice, or 'how do I wear this' questions are restricted to a pinned daily thread rather than allowed as standalone posts, with a community wiki covering fragrance basics and where to buy. That keeps the main feed from being swamped by repetitive beginner questions, though it also means genuinely useful recommendation threads can be harder to resurface later than a standalone post would be.

As with any community this size, quality is uneven - a 2.4 million-member general subreddit will contain both excellent, experienced voices and a lot of noise, and it is a global, largely US-weighted community rather than a UK-specific one. It's best treated as a volume-and-reach source (sentiment checks, quick sanity checks on a scent, seeing what the internet-at-large thinks) rather than a substitute for a smaller, more curated community like Basenotes.
