Mentha citrata oil, CAS 68917-15-7. Mentha citrata is Mentha aquatica var. citrata - the same plant the note names, under the older name. CORRECTED 2026-08-14 for the same reason as blue-tansy: the probe searched the binomial and missed a row filed under a synonym.
Distilled from Mentha aquatica var. citrata, a mint whose oil is dominated by linalool and linalyl acetate rather than menthol - the same two constituents that define lavender and bergamot, which is where the common name comes from.
Bridges citrus and lavender in fougere and cologne structures, where it adds freshness without the toothpaste association of menthol-rich mints.
