About
Gil Clavien (full name Gil Clavien Giannoni) is a Swiss Principal Perfumer at DSM-Firmenich, based in New York. She holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Geneva (1989) and joined Firmenich straight from university as an Assistant Perfumer in Switzerland, working under Tony Morris and Francis Deleamont. Her career has taken her through Firmenich offices in Switzerland, Japan, Germany and - since 1997 - the United States, spanning mass-market toiletries (Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Avon) and designer / celebrity fine fragrance (Britney Spears Rainbow Fantasy, Sabrina Carpenter Sweet Tooth Caramel Dream, Elizabeth Arden White Tea flankers, Vera Wang, Perry Ellis, Boy Smells Flor de la Virgen, Phlur). Raised near the Matterhorn in a vintner family, she trained in ballet from childhood - both inform her precise, structured approach to composition.
