Jean Jacques

France Born 0 Kenzo

Frequently compares composing perfume to jazz, building formulas like musical harmonies. Known at Caron for “overdoses” of naturals, for example high levels of sustainable vetiver in Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis and a very high proportion of natural lavender in Pour Un Homme de Caron. His style often relies on bold contrasts and pairing seemingly opposite notes to create modern, expressive, addictive fragrances.

About

Jean Jacques is a French perfumer and in-house perfumer of Caron, a position he has held since 2019 after the brand’s acquisition by Ariane and Benjamin de Rothschild. Early in his career he interned at Quest and Fragrance Resources in 1993, then worked at Kao in 1994 before joining Takasago as a perfumer in 1997, where he created fragrances for international brands. Among his credited creations prior to Caron are Christian Lacroix C’est la Fête! (2007), Kenzo Eau de Fleur de Soie (2008), Oriflame Love Potion (2011), Givenchy Gentleman Only (2013), Courrèges Hyperbole (2016) and Davidoff Cool Water Wave (2017).
