About Kenzo

Kenzo Takada, born in Japan in 1939, moved to Paris in 1964 and established his eponymous fashion house in 1970 with a boutique called 'Jungle Jap' in Galerie Vivienne. Starting with just $200 worth of discounted fabrics, Takada created a revolutionary aesthetic that fused Japanese design principles with European construction techniques and vibrant cultural influences. The brand became known for bold colors, jungle-inspired patterns, and a free-spirited approach to fashion that celebrated nature and diversity. Kenzo entered the fragrance market in 1988 with his debut women's fragrance, followed by the iconic Flower by Kenzo in 2000-a powdery floral created by Alberto Morillas that linked nature to modern life through notes of parma violet, wild hawthorn, cassis, Bulgarian rose, vanilla, white musk, and opoponax. In 1993, LVMH acquired Kenzo for approximately $80 million, maintaining the brand's distinctive creative vision while expanding its global reach. Today, under creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista (appointed 2019), Kenzo Parfums continues to embody Takada's legacy of spontaneity, authenticity, and exuberant self-expression through fragrances that transmit freedom and creativity.
