Note Profile
Grasse Tuberose, Indian Tuberose, Indian Tuberose Absolute, Tuber, Tuberose Absolute, Tubers
Heady, creamy white floral
Tuberose has a rich, creamy white floral scent with pronounced heady, narcotic qualities. Its aroma features facets of honey, coconut, and a subtle green freshness, evolving into a warm, slightly spicy undertone as it dries down. The scent is intensely voluptuous and enveloping, often described as both opulent and sensual.
Tuberose is derived from the night-blooming Polianthes tuberosa, native to Mexico but now cultivated in India, France, and Morocco. The essential oil is traditionally obtained through solvent extraction of the delicate white blossoms, as they are too fragile for steam distillation. The resulting absolute is highly prized in high-end perfumery.
Perfumers use tuberose primarily as a heart note, where it imparts depth and a signature floral richness to compositions. It blends well with other white florals like jasmine and orange blossom, as well as with creamy, woody, or spicy notes to temper its intensity. Tuberose is a key component in many classic floral and oriental fragrances.
Perfumers known for using Tuberose include Alberto Morillas , Dominique Ropion , Louise Turner , Roja Dove , Anne Flipo , and Carlos Benaïm .
