François Demachy is a renowned French perfumer celebrated for his influential role in shaping the modern identity of several iconic fragrance houses. Born in Cannes and raised in Grasse, the historical heart of French perfumery, Demachy first pursued studies in dentistry and physiotherapy before turning to his true passion. He began his fragrance career at Mane and later trained extensively at Charabot, a respected school of perfumery. Demachy's professional trajectory took flight at Chanel, where he became Director of Research and Development, contributing to creations for Chanel, Ungaro, Bourjois, and Tiffany. In 2006, he joined Christian Dior as the in-house perfumer and Director of Development for LVMH's cosmetics and perfumes division, ushering a new era of creative direction for the brand. At Dior, Demachy led the reformulation of classics such as Miss Dior and introduced modern bestsellers like Sauvage, while also developing fragrances for other LVMH brands, including Fendi and Acqua di Parma. His vision and technical expertise have left a lasting imprint on contemporary perfumery.
