CORRECTED 2026-10-08. Pink pepper is the berry of Schinus terebinthifolia and Schinus molle, and both give a real oil that IFRA and IOFI list. Previously the note was read as having no extract, with the text 'no matching IFRA NCS entry', which was wrong: IFRA lists three S. terebinthifolius forms (949495-68-5) and five S. molle forms (68917-52-2). The Brazilian S. terebinthifolia is the more traded, so it is the edge. S. molle oil (schinus-molle-oil, 68917-52-2) is a second material for the note and is recorded in the pilot verdicts. Not schinus-terebinthifolius-leaf-oil, which shares the CAS but is leaf, not berry.

Pink pepper is sourced from the dried berries of the Schinus molle or Schinus terebinthifolia trees, native to South America. The berries are steam-distilled or CO2-extracted to obtain the essential oil used in perfumery.
