Gallo often highlights natural materials, a focus rooted in his training at the Robertet school in Grasse. His work frequently blends aromatic Mediterranean notes (fig, lavender, rosemary in Soffio Zenit for Brunello Cucinelli) with warm woods and resins such as labdanum and vetiver. For an Australian brand he showcased the little-used Kunzea flower paired with a saline patchouli accord, and he is known for leveraging DSM-Firmenich tech-nature ingredients like Ambrox and Akigalawood, as well as AI-Sense tools, to refine diffusion and sustainability.
Florian Gallo is a French perfumer at dsm-firmenich, working in fine fragrance. According to ISPC and Wikiparfum, he studied perfumery at ISIPCA, then continued his training at the Robertet school in Grasse, where he developed a strong interest in natural raw materials. Olfastory and Fumerie note that he joined Firmenich (now dsm-firmenich) in 2018 and became the first perfumer to open the Fine Fragrance studio in Shanghai. In an Olfastory interview he describes China as “the most fascinating sociocultural laboratory in the world” and explains that he uses the company’s AI-Sense algorithms to optimize diffusion and lower the carbon footprint of his fragrance trials, referring to artificial intelligence as an “emotional microscope.” He has created fragrances such as Soffio Zenit for Brunello Cucinelli and worked on Oola Lab’s Wood and Cloud. For an Australian house, he composed a Kunzea- and salty-patchouli-based perfume inspired by Flinders Island, which received a Fragrance Foundation UK 2025 nomination.
