Born in Picardy, France, Bethouart initially pursued a background in chemistry before finding his calling in perfumery. He began his professional journey at Givaudan in 1981, where he honed his craft until 1987, before rising to the position of senior perfumer at Firmenich, which later became dsm-firmenich. Throughout his career, Bethouart has developed a diverse portfolio, crafting fragrances for top brands including Givenchy, Versace, Burberry, Dior, Boucheron, and Caron. His creations are renowned for their sophistication, elegance, and timeless appeal, often blending classic French style with innovative accords. One of his most lauded works is Caron Parfum Sacré, celebrated for its warm, spicy oriental character and lush rose heart.
