Josh Lobb is a self-taught American perfumer and the founder of the Portland, Oregon-based niche brand Slumberhouse. He began creating perfumes experimentally with no formal training and initially sold his scents individually via Etsy, where Slumberhouse first took shape. Early on, the project functioned as a small collective with Lobb composing the fragrances while friends contributed visual art and other creative elements. Over time Slumberhouse became his solo brand. Lobb explicitly rejects the “all-natural” label, stating that he uses both synthetic and natural materials, and is known for dense, moody compositions such as Norne, Kiste, Ore, Sova and Pear + Olive.
