Luca Maffei is an acclaimed Italian perfumer and the creative force behind Atelier Fragranze Milano. Born into a family immersed in the fragrance industry, his passion for scent was nurtured from an early age, influenced by his father Marco Maffei and close exposure to leading perfumers like Dominique Ropion and Michel Almairac. Initially drawn to the business side of perfumery, Luca's true calling emerged in the creative realm, prompting him to study under Madame Françoise Marin in Grasse, the former director of the Roure perfumery school. After apprenticeships with Vincent Ricord and collaborations with master perfumer Maurizio Cerizza, he founded Atelier Fragranze Milano and became a member of the Société Française des Parfumeurs in 2014. Maffei has since developed a broad and innovative portfolio, creating over 200 fragrances for both mainstream and niche brands, including perfumes, air scents, and candles. His work has earned international recognition and awards, such as the Art and Olfaction Awards for Black Pepper & Sandalwood by Acca Kappa and Néa by JUL ET MAD Paris. Maffei’s approach is marked by curiosity and a deep fascination with raw materials, drawing inspiration from his Italian heritage and diverse collaborations. His creative vision and dedication have left a significant mark on the contemporary fragrance landscape, influencing both established and emerging brands worldwide.
