About

Pierre Negrin is a highly acclaimed French perfumer born in Grasse, the historic heart of French perfumery. Growing up surrounded by the scent trade-both his grandfathers were merchants of plants and products for perfumery-Negrin developed a deep passion for fragrance from an early age. His career path, however, was not initially set on perfumery; he first aspired to become a photographer, inspired by iconic names such as Robert Capa and Henri Cartier Bresson. It was during his studies in physics and chemistry that a pivotal internship led him to discover the world of fragrance creation. Pierre did not attend a traditional perfumery school but learned his craft in fragrance laboratories, gaining hands-on experience that shaped his approach. In the early 1990s, Negrin left France for Mexico and later the USA, further broadening his international perspective. By 2008, he had joined the prestigious Firmenich Fine Fragrance Center in New York. Renowned for his refined, disciplined, and understated approach to both life and perfumery, Negrin has created signature fragrances for brands such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren and is especially celebrated for his influential work with Amouage, including celebrated scents like Interlude Man and Journey Woman. Awarded the International Prize for Fragrance Creation by the French Society of Perfumers in 1990, Pierre Negrin is recognized as one of the most respected and sought-after perfumers of his generation.
