Floris London
From her own comments on Malmaison Encore and on Floris’s heritage, Foyle leans into classically English floral structures updated with modern materials. Her work for Floris, such as Soulle Ambar and Malmaison Encore, often combines luminous citrus or aromatic openings with rich florals and warm ambered or spicy bases, aiming to reinterpret traditional Floris signatures for contemporary wearers.
Shelagh Foyle is a British perfumer closely associated with Floris in London. She is described by Floris and in UK press as the brand’s “perfumer laureate” and serves as Creative Perfumer, hosting events at the historic Floris store at 89 Jermyn Street in Piccadilly. In an interview with Nose Paris she characterises Floris as the “quintessential English perfumery,” known for both single and complex florals built with high‑quality ingredients. Foyle has composed several Floris fragrances, including Soulle Ambar (2013) and Amethyst, as well as the house’s Malmaison Encore, where she notes it was designed as “a fragrance for today, built on memories of the past.” She is based in the Greater Brighton and Hove area in the UK.
