Greece Born 1971 Monreale

Warm, resinous and incense-led compositions that take their cues from art, history and culture, with rose, musk, floral, gourmand and oud variations. The house frames each scent as a signature of character, built by outside perfumers working to his direction.

About

Thomas Tsavdaridis is a Greek entrepreneur and the founder of Monreale Parfums. He sets the concepts for the house and oversees its range, and his role is best read as founder and creative lead of a brand that works with professional perfumers.

He says he has spent more than 25 years in luxury cosmetics and perfume. No perfumery school, apprenticeship or training is documented for him, so none is claimed here. He is resident in England, and he has been a director of Monreale Limited since January 2017.

The house takes its name from the cathedral at Monreale near Palermo in Sicily. He was struck by the way its architecture joins Byzantine, Norman, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque influences, and he named the perfume line he created after the town. The range he oversees leans on warm, resinous and incense-based notes, alongside rose, musk, floral, gourmand and oud compositions. Most of it launched in 2021.

Credits are the unusual part of his profile. Public perfume databases list him as the nose behind 21 Monreale fragrances. The house itself says its fragrances are designed and composed by some of the finest perfumers, without naming them. Both statements can be true, and until the house names its composers his entry is best read as founder and credited nose, not as proof that he composed each formula himself.

Monreale presents itself as a rising international house, with the United Kingdom and the Middle East as the markets it wants to grow in.
