Against Nature
Eau de Parfum
Imprint
Han builds concept-driven scents around the mood of literary works rather than classical note pyramids, sometimes inverting the usual top-heart-base development so bases lead and top notes appear later. He favors complex, sometimes unsettling accords, such as combining basil, lemon, clove and oakmoss in She Came to Stay, or evoking burnt rubber, hot asphalt, jazz and whisky in On the Road. He works predominantly with naturals but also uses synthetics for effects like the metallic, lacquered and sanguine facets in Against Nature.
Timothy Han is a London-based independent perfumer and founder of his eponymous luxury brand, launched in 2014 and originally known as Timothy Han / Edition, now rebranded as IMPRINT. Working from an East London studio, he began by creating small-batch fragrances inspired by iconic works of literature, including She Came to Stay and On the Road for Timothy Han Edition Perfumes. Han previously worked in fashion design studios with John Galliano, Issey Miyake and Koji Tatsuno before moving into scent, first via a candle line. He studied architecture in London and has no formal perfumery training, instead developing his own formulas and collaborating with a lab for regulatory compliance. Beyond his own brand, he has created custom fragrances for The Peninsula London’s in-room amenities, for Lady Gaga, and for private clients. His fragrances have been sold through retailers such as Browns, 10 Corso Como, Liberty and Mr Porter.
