About Jordache

Jordache is an American denim label from New York, started in 1978 by the brothers Joe, Ralph and Avi Nakash. The name is a contraction of their first names. The company made its mark with form-fitting jeans, a horse-head logo and a bold 1979 advertising push, and through the 1980s it licensed its name to makers of everything from socks and luggage to jewellery and umbrellas. Today the parent, Jordache Enterprises, is a privately held group that makes denim and apparel and also works in real estate and other ventures.

Fragrance is a recent extension of that licensing habit. The current range is sold as eau de parfum in a 100ml bottle, with the denim back pocket and horse-head badge printed on the glass and the box. Billie and Quinn are the two named women's perfumes, with Frankie, Indigo and Stone among the other names listed for the range. Alongside them sit a few fragrance mists with beach and summer names. The scents lean on easy, familiar accords: apple, pear and jasmine over musk for Billie, and orchid, passion fruit and vanilla for Quinn.

Jordache sits in the everyday fashion-label tier of perfume, with the kind of wide availability and gentle character that suits a first bottle, a gift or a casual daytime spray. It is not a perfume house in the niche or designer sense: the appeal is the familiar name and an approachable, fruity-floral style rather than an experimental one. The perfumes are sold mainly through online fragrance discounters.

Brand Evolution

Jordache began as a 1978 denim label and grew through 1980s licensing into a wide range of everyday products. Its fragrances are the newest chapter of that approach: a small named range of women's eau de parfum plus summer mists.

Quick Verdict

A familiar fashion name applied to easy, fruity-floral perfume. Not a statement house, but a friendly and affordable one for casual wear.
