Bigarane™ is a captive aroma molecule owned by MANE. It smells of petitgrain: a soft, leafy green with a woody, twig-like edge.

Scent Profile

Bigarane smells of petitgrain, the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree. The main impression is a soft, leafy green. A light citrus brightness sits with it. A woody, twig-like dryness gives it an edge. It reads fresh and aromatic, close to the herbal greens.

Origin

A captive aroma molecule made by MANE. MANE keeps it for its own perfumers and its own specialty bases. MANE names it as one of its captive molecules in two launches: Bigaflower (2018) and Greencatcher (2020). Its structure and CAS number are not published. One glossary page gives CAS 18829-56-6 and formula C9H16O, but on PubChem that CAS is 2-nonenal, an unrelated fatty-green aldehyde. No CAS is claimed here.

Usage in Perfumery

A green, petitgrain-type material for fresh accords. MANE puts a high level of it in Bigaflower, a specialty for neroli-type accords. It is also one of the captives in Greencatcher, a green specialty for fine fragrance, body care, fabric care and air care. A few perfumes name it in their notes. Olfattology OT-23 (2015) lists it in the top. Bois 1920 Verde di Mare (2014) lists it in the heart, beside petitgrain.
