Bigarane™ is a captive synthetic molecule owned by MANE. It smells of clean citrus-green with a dry woody edge, built to stand in for petitgrain's freshness without the natural oil's bitterness. Only one page describes its smell directly, and that page carries a CAS number that is demonstrably wrong, so this vector is thin on purpose.

Scent Profile

Green leads and is the identity. The one page that describes the material calls it a "clean, luminous citrus-green", the trade report on the blend it sits inside calls that blend "a crisp, fresh green note", and Fragrantica's own grouping of the perfumes that use it is Greens, herbs and fougeres. Three separate routes agree on green, which is why it is the one value here that is not thin. Citrus is the second half of "citrus-green", pitched below the green because the source ranks it second and qualifies it as "less sharp than lemon". Dry_woody is the material's stated point of difference: "petitgrain-adjacent but smoother, with a woody dryness that natural petitgrain often lacks". That is the sentence the molecule exists for, so it is scored as a real facet rather than a nuance. Aromatic_herbal comes from the petitgrain adjacency and from the herbal reading in both the trade report and the Fragrantica group. Clean_musk is a mapping judgement, not a quoted claim: the source says "transparent, well-behaved", "controlled and precise", and no facet in the 32 covers transparency, so it is scored to the nearest one. Aquatic_ozonic and fruity are traces carried over from the description of Greencatcher, the finished blend, not of Bigarane alone, and both spreads are wide because of it. Origin

A captive aroma chemical from MANE, meaning the house makes it and does not sell it. Two independent sources name MANE as the owner: a 2020 Perfumer & Flavorist trade report on the MANE specialty blend Greencatcher, which lists Bigarane among the captive molecules it is designed with, and a Basenotes thread cataloguing house captives. The synthesis route is not published. One glossary page gives CAS 18829-56-6 and formula C9H16O for it, but that CAS resolves on PubChem to 2-nonenal, an unrelated fatty-green aldehyde, so no structure or CAS is claimed here.

Usage in Perfumery

A top-note green freshness material. Fragrantica files the four perfumes that print the name under Greens, herbs and fougeres, and MANE uses it inside Greencatcher, a green specialty for fine fragrance, body care, fabric care and air care. It does the job natural petitgrain does in a cologne or a fougere opening, and it does it smoother and drier.
