About

Lemon myrtle is the leaf oil of Backhousia citriodora, a Queensland rainforest tree. It is steam distilled. It is a different genus and tribe from the Mediterranean Myrtus communis. It smells like the most intense natural lemon, softening to a sweet, rounded lemon, with a green herbaceous undertone. It is powerful, so it is used at very low doses.
