Steam distilled from the leaves of Backhousia citriodora, a Queensland rainforest tree. Its citral content is the highest of any known plant, routinely above 90%, and it is a different genus and tribe from the Mediterranean Myrtus communis that shares part of its name.
A powerful lemon note used at very low dose. Like other high-citral oils its use in fine fragrance is bounded by IFRA limits on citral.
