Origin

Peppermint is derived from the leaves of Mentha x piperita, a hybrid mint species cultivated in temperate regions. The essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the fresh or partially dried leaves and flowering tops.

Usage in Perfumery

Perfumers use peppermint primarily as a top note to impart freshness and vibrancy, especially in fougère, aromatic, and citrus compositions. It blends well with other herbs, citrus oils, and cool spices, and can accentuate green or aquatic accords.
