Amélie Bourgeois

Amélie Bourgeois

France Born 1981 BDK Parfums

Frequently draws on natural landscapes and childhood memories of the Landes, favoring materials such as immortelle, ambroxan, iris and vetiver. Known for narrative, textural compositions that often push contrasts in accords (for example in gourmand-leaning scents like Imperial Peacock or the smoky-boozy Gueule de Bois) while remaining wearable.

About

Amélie Bourgeois is a French perfumer born in 1981 in the Landes region of southwestern France, where the smells of pine trees, heather and wheat fields marked her childhood. Initially trained in cosmetology, she turned to perfumery after meeting Monique Schlienger, founder of the Cinquième Sens school in Paris, and studied there from 2002 under her mentorship. She then worked for seven years at Cinquième Sens as both perfumer and trainer before co-founding the independent creation studio FLAIR in 2012 with Martine Denisot, later joined by Anne-Sophie Behaghel. Through FLAIR she has composed fragrances for numerous niche brands, including BDK Parfums, Jovoy Paris, Frapin, Alexandre.J, Les Eaux Primordiales, Volnay and Versatile Paris, and she recreated five historical perfumes for Volnay Paris. Her credits include Rouge Smoking for BDK Parfums and Versatile’s Gueule de Bois, Accrodisiaque and Rital Date.
