An intense, sweet lemon that is grassier and less bright than citrus peel, with a green herbaceous edge underneath and a faint cooling lift. Closer to lemongrass than to lemon, and more tenacious than either.

Leptospermum petersonii leaf oil - a real material we do not hold. The link we would make is NaturalComplex; flagged rather than typed as Reconstruction, because the oil exists and the gap is ours.
Steam distilled from the leaves of Leptospermum petersonii, an Australian shrub unrelated to true tea tree despite the shared common name. Citral is the dominant constituent, typically 70-80%, which is what gives it a lemon character far more intense than lemon peel.
A cheap and powerful lemon top note where the sharpness of peel oil is not wanted. Its citral content limits the dose in fine fragrance under IFRA restrictions.
