Fruity is the note and the one source says so plainly: 'a bright, tart scent, like cranberries but with a more lively and sweeter edge'. Sour carries the tartness, held below half because the same source says the tartness softens as it develops. Earthy and mossy_chypre both sit and they are the reason this is a note rather than a shade of cranberry: 'as it develops further, its fragrance reveals earthy undertones, like damp moss and wild herbs'. Damp moss reads on both facets and neither one alone carries it. Origin
The fruit of Vaccinium vitis-idaea, a low evergreen shrub of northern Europe, Scandinavia and the boreal forest. Perfumery uses it as a reconstructed fruity accord rather than an extract, since the berry yields no commercial essential oil.
