Spicy Notes is a group note covering both halves of the spice rack at once. Fragrantica's own definition says spices "can be fresh or warm", and the derived vector agrees almost exactly - the two facets come out level.

Scent Profile

Fresh spice and warm spice in equal measure - the bright pepper-and-cardamom prickle and the cinnamon-and-nutmeg warmth at the same time. Dry wood underneath from the barks, and a cool mentholic edge from the seeds.

Origin

No single source. The weighted common ground of 11 published spice notes, led by cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, carnation, allspice, cassia and mace. Spices come from seeds, fruits, barks, roots, leaves and flowers, so the group crosses more plant organs than any other here.

Usage in Perfumery

A spice accord sits in the heart and gives a composition heat and movement. Perfumers use it to stop a woody base reading flat and to give an oriental its lift. It is the classic bridge between a citrus opening and an amber base.
