No 94 Oud For Greatness

Oud for Greatness is Initio's flagship statement of authority: saffron, nutmeg and lavender up top, a raw agarwood and patchouli heart, and a musky, resinous base engineered for maximum sillage. No 94 opens with a spicy saffron-nutmeg lift and a genuinely present oud note in the heart, which is the hardest part of this fragrance to fake convincingly, and this dupe does a fair job of it early on. The base is where the gap widens: Initio's version is built to project a dark, resinous cloud for hours, the whole point of a fragrance marketed on dominance and sillage, while this dupe's musk-resin base is softer and settles closer to the skin much sooner, losing the commanding, room-filling character that makes the niche original a signature scent. Projection is strong initially before it calms down. For anyone who wants a taste of the saffron-oud authority of Oud for Greatness without the niche price, it's a fair starting point, but it won't fill a room the way the real thing does.
