Czech & Speake Mimosa Cologne is an Eau de Parfum launched in 1986. Mimosa Cologne opens with Geranium and Ylang-Ylang, settles into a heart of Jasmine and Mimosa, and dries down to a base of Clove and Benzoin. Czech & Speake's Mimosa Cologne carries an Acquired verdict, a yellow floral-led wear.

This "Mimosa" is not for the faint of heart, nor for the modern nose. It's a remarkably polarising floral that many find overpowering and dated, smelling more of an elderly relative's bathroom than a sophisticated blooming garden. Approach with extreme caution - many samples seem to end up in the bin.

A warm-weather pick - at its best in spring and summer.

Best Occasions

The strong, old-fashioned floral character makes this largely unsuitable for most modern occasions. Its intensity might be acceptable for some very formal, traditional events, but it's far too overwhelming for office, casual, or date settings.

About

Mimosa Cologne opens with an intense blast of yellow florals. Ylang-ylang and geranium dominate, quickly joined by a powerful jasmine. This gives way to the nominal mimosa, though it struggles for air against the other strong white florals. The dry down is a blend of mild spices and a soapy, powdery benzoin, which unfortunately veers into old-fashioned territory for many.
