Luxe Fragrances Orchid is an Eau de Parfum. Orchid opens with Bergamot and Blackcurrant, settles into a heart of Spicy and Orchid, and dries down to a base of Dark Chocolate, Sandalwood, Patchouli, and Vanilla. Luxe Fragrances's Orchid carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

Orchid reaches for the dark floral-chocolate signature that defines Tom Ford's Black Orchid, landing a recognisably sweet, woody-gourmand mood while the truffle-incense complexity and heavyweight sillage that make the original so distinctive are noticeably scaled back.

About

Inspired by Black Orchid is Luxe Fragrances' interpretation of Tom Ford's Black Orchid, the 2006 release that redefined the dark-floral-gourmand category with French jasmine, black truffle, ylang-ylang and black currant over a black orchid heart, resting on patchouli, sandalwood, dark chocolate, incense, amber and vanilla. Orchid opens with a fruity black currant-bergamot burst before an orchid-and-spice heart takes over, closing on patchouli, dark chocolate, vanilla and sandalwood. The black currant-to-dark chocolate arc is a fair echo of the original's opulent, gourmand-leaning character, and the sweetness in the base gives a genuine nod to Black Orchid's signature richness. What is lost is the truffle and incense that give the real Black Orchid its earthy, almost smoky complexity, and the ylang-ylang-jasmine opening that makes the original feel properly floral rather than just dark and sweet - Orchid's version reads simpler and more one-dimensionally sweet as it develops. Performance runs three to five hours with moderate projection, well below the designer original's reputation for filling a room for eight or more hours. A workable, affordable introduction to the dark-gourmand-floral genre, though the layered complexity that made Black Orchid iconic does not fully translate.
