Luxe Fragrances Rioni is an Eau de Parfum. Rioni opens with Sichuan Pepper and Turmeric, settles into a heart of Rose, and dries down to a base of Patchouli and Tonka Bean. Luxe Fragrances's Rioni carries a Statement verdict, a rose-led wear.

Rioni chases the multi-rose chypre floral at the heart of Tom Ford's Rose Prick, landing a recognisably rosy, slightly spiced opening while losing the peppery turmeric bite and dry patchouli-chypre depth that make the original feel expensive rather than simply sweet.

About

Inspired by Rose Prick is Luxe Fragrances' interpretation of Tom Ford's Rose Prick, the 2020 chypre floral built around a rare trio of May, Bulgarian and Turkish rose over Sichuan pepper, turmeric, patchouli and tonka bean. Rioni's own product copy singles out the same Turkish and Bulgarian rose focus, and the dupe opens with a milder Sichuan pepper and turmeric spark before settling into a dense, sweet rose heart. The multi-rose accord is the strongest point of resemblance, arriving quickly and staying present throughout the wear. What thins out is the spicy-earthy edge that gives the real Rose Prick its bite - the turmeric and pepper read as a faint accent here rather than the assertive, almost bitter counterpoint to the rose that Tom Ford built the fragrance around, and the patchouli-tonka base leans sweeter and simpler than the original's dry chypre finish. Performance runs three to five hours with soft projection, well short of the niche original's staying power. A pleasant, accessible rose fragrance for wearers curious about the multi-rose genre, though the peppery complexity that makes Rose Prick distinctive is largely smoothed away.
