Inspired by Chance

Inspired by Chance is Match Fragrances' budget reading of Chanel's 2003 Chance, the Jacques Polge youthful round-bottle floral that became Chanel's modern entry-point feminine signature. Match's pyramid mirrors the original community pyramid: pink pepper, lemon and pineapple on top, a jasmine-iris-hyacinth heart, and a patchouli-vetiver-amber-white musk close. The first hour is the strongest match: pink pepper crackles on top with the lemon-pineapple lifting it, and the trademark fresh-floral-spicy impression arriving within minutes. By the heart the jasmine comes forward with iris adding the powdery floral backbone and hyacinth lifting the bouquet. The dry-down trades on patchouli as the anchor, with vetiver, amber and white musk rounding the close. Performance is the budget compromise: four to six hours of moderate sillage rather than the long-trail projection Chance is famous for. The character is fresh-floral-feminine, with spring, summer and autumn the strongest seasons and casual, office, and date the natural settings. The honest caveat: at fifty millilitres for under thirty pounds, the Chanel's polished depth is softened here.
